Amentum has been in business since 2005 when it was set up as the aircraft leasing and asset management arm of HSH Nordbank, one of the largest commercial aircraft finance banks at the time. Since then, Amentum has expanded its customer base of airlines and financial institutions and is now an independent full service aircraft investment management and leasing company.   • Financial Products Group and Amentum acquired the first three 737-800 aircraft for JOL transactions.
  • Amentum arranged the acquisition of three new 737-900ER aircraft in Sale & Lease Back transaction with Lion Air for investor customer Archway Aviation.
  • Amentum arranged the sale of three aircraft for HSH Nordbank AG, including one 747-400ERF freighter.
  • Amentum successfully managed several lease extensions as well as lease transitions to new lessee customers.
  • Bank of Ireland became a new customer of Amentum’s debt advisory services.


  • Tokyo Stock Exchange listed Financial Products Group Co., Ltd. (‘FPG’ - 7148:JP) and Amentum close a strategic cooperation to provide innovative aircraft investment solutions to investors in Japan. As part of this cooperation, FPG acquires 25% of Amentum’s share capital. FPG is one of the largest independent JOLCO arrangers in the Japanese market and seeks to grow its Japanese Operating Lease (JOL) offering.
  • Archway Aviation is a new investor customer of Amentum. Under the long term agreement Amentum provides asset management services to Archway Aviation.
  • Amentum is active in the freighter market, placing a new 747 freighter on lease to CargoLux and selling three A310F for a banking customer.
  • Amentum extends a number of leases and welcomes Transaero as a new lessee customer.
  • Amentum sells one A330-200 on lease to Vietnam Airlines for a banking customer.


  • The senior management buys 100% of the shares in Amentum from HSH Nordbank AG in a MBO. As HSH Nordbank starts to wind down its significant aircraft lending portfolio to reduce its US$ book after the financial crisis, the successful Aircraft Investment & Leasing Solutions specialist Amentum becomes an independent service provider. Amentum continues to provide its high standard of services to all its existing customers and is mandated by HSH Nordbank as global service provider and exclusive remarketing agent for the long-term divestment of all HSH Nordbank owned aircraft.
  • Amentum makes its specialist know-how more widely available on a third party basis and remarkets two A319-100 aircraft for another major lessor.
  •  Amentum successfully manages the repossession of two 747-400ERF aircraft in one of the first ever unscheduled repossessions from China.
  • Amentum is mandated to provide Aviation Industry and Credit Research to Dubai Aerospace Capital (DAE) under a long-term contract.


  • Amentum completes the investment in aircraft for Global Aircraft Fund I, with the purchase and delivery of three new 737-800 to TUI Fly and the purchase of one 737-800 on lease to Air Europa and two 737-700 on lease to China Southern. The fund is now fully invested with 26 aircraft on lease.
  • Amentum adds to its strong restructuring track record with the successful repossession for HSH Nordbank of two A320-200 from Indonesia and one A330-200 from Nigeria and the swift placement of the aircraft on new leases.
  • Amentum manages a large number of aircraft transitions incl. delivery of two A319-100 to Hamburg Airways, two A320-200 to Volaris and one A330-200 to Royal Jordanian, several lease extensions and the sale of one 747-400ERF to Kalitta Air.
  • Amentum diversifies it’s funding base following HSH Nordbank’s decision to retrench its aviation lending activities.  
  • Amentum’s portfolio under management surpasses US$ 2 billion.


2008 - 2010

  • Amentum is appointed as Lease Manager and Remarketing Agent for Deutsche Capital Management (DCM) KG Funds investing in four 777-200LRF freighter aircraft.
  • Amentum rapidly expands portfolio under management placing aircraft on lease to airlines globally including Lion Air, BMI, Vietnam Airlines, TUI, Emirates, Volaris, Royal Jordanian, KLM and easyJet.  
  • Remarketing activities broaden on HSH Nordbank financed aircraft to include CRJ, 747-400, A320, A330 and A340 aircraft.
  • HSH Nordbank AG becomes 100% shareholder of Amentum.
  • Management changes as Martin Bouzaima and Jan Melgaard join the company.          

2005 - 2007

  • In 2005 Amentum Capital Limited is set up in Dublin, Ireland, as a joint venture between HSH Nordbank AG (60%) and DAL Deutsche Anlagen-Leasing GmbH & Co (40%). 
  • During 2006 Amentum provides technical services to the growing aircraft finance department of HSH Nordbank and arranges the first aircraft leases for the bank. Remarketing activities are commenced with the successful placement of seven Dornier 328s. 
  • During 2007 Amentum grows to become a full service operating lessor following its appointment as investment advisor and lease manager to Global Aircraft Fund I (GAF I), a Luxembourg-based closed end fund investing US$ 1.1 billion in commercial aircraft.
